Domestics

Domestics, originally uploaded by _saturnine.

Victim terry towels of the Great Washing Machine Leak of 2009. Which wasn't very great at all, barely made it out of the laundry room. These are actually clean and white, I think the light is bouncing off the porch a bit funny...

Reading: Robert Sheckley: Notions Unlimited

One of the current reads in my list. Really enjoying it - unfortunately his short fiction books are allegedly all out of print, so this copy will definitely be kept carefully on our bookshelves from this point on.

Good Morning

Good Morning, originally uploaded by _saturnine.
Now the cats are in, I can say we've officially moved into our very first home. The first room to be sorted out in full was the living room. The light in the morning is pretty stunning.

Oh Joy

We're closing on our new house in the next week - all the papers signed, all the inspections completed and estimates compiled. This is one of our new neighbours. It barks a lot, and comes in a pair.

Homemade Chirashi

Fred made homemade chirashi bowl (with Korean red sauce) last night, as we've crept into fire season now, and it's just dry and hot. Who wants to eat hot food in fire season? Not me!

Thanks to Shreena for reminding me to take a photo. It's like I've forgotten I have a camera these days.

[Other good news is that the offer on a house we want was accepted this morning! We might be moving to La Mesa!]

New Camera, New Kicks

Made an impulse buy today for the cost of $48.99 - a non-broken, budget Vivitar 8025. I now firmly believe they make these cameras a bit weird on purpose.

Loaded Proposal

Let's take a look at those front covers. Do I want to give $12 of our money to Cosmopolitan? No. Not really.

Fresh Fruits

I didn't actually eat the blackberries - too old. Should have eaten sooner. The apple was delicious.

Robster Rolls

Last night was grocery shopping night, so we picked up some sushi from Njiya Market. Unintentional humour arose! And tastiness!

Pennysaver

Is it me, or is providing a cash incentive to people who use/have ever used crystal meth a REALLY REALLY BAD IDEA???

Breakfast

Post-emigration means settling into my new environment, and the transition between UK and US is sutble. It's the little things that matter - power switches, how trash is collected, the sheer size of the sky. We had to buy a light, non-stick frying pan that enables me to cook on my own terms. The sourdough bread is because so much of North American bread comes packed with sugar, rendering it inedible.
